As part of our mission to foster collaboration and raise the profile of research, the BRI provides assistance with the creation of research websites for investigators, developing approximately 50 per year. Our primary goal is to help investigators establish an online presence that contributes to their research goals, some of which include: finding potential collaborators, recruiting trainees, creating opportunities for donor support and promoting their work to a broader audience.

WEB DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
The time to take a website project from a dream to completion depends on many factors, including how much time your staff has to work with us and how much content you have. We have outlined the process below.
STEP 1
PLANNING
After we receive the Website Request Form from you, we will schedule an initial meeting, where you will meet with a member of the BRI to discuss the various aspects of your project, your responsibilities, and answer any questions.
STEP 2
DEVELOPMENT
You will deliver compiled, finalized content in a Dropbox folder using our Website Content Guide, which you can find below under Quick Links.
Once your content is finalized and ready to be uploaded onto your website, submit the Website Content Form.
STEP 3
DESIGN
We will take your finalized content and build your website with it. While we will try to closely adhere to the basic outline, we will use our professional judgment to decide the best layout and format for your content.
Depending on the size of the website, this could up be four to eight weeks, and longer if the site is substantial.
STEP 4
REVIEW
Once your lab receives the preview, you will review the site and if necessary, the Web Designer will meet with you to discuss changes you would like made to the site before it goes live.
It is important to note that you will be able to add and revise your site once you take it over, so nothing is ever final.
STEP 5
LAUNCH & MAINTENANCE
After the round of edits is complete and reviewed, your organization will get a final review.
Once training is scheduled with one of your organization’s staff member, they will be responsible for maintaining the site going forward.
