Inside a Lab: Putting COVID to the (Diagnostic) Test

The Brigham Research Institute and the MGB Center for COVID Innovation recently participated in the Cambridge Science Festival!
This kid and family friendly event provided an exclusive chance to explore a COVID-19 research laboratory! Scientist, Dr. Sara Suliman and her team took attendees on a guided tour of the lab itself, demonstrated how to put on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and ran an experiment right before their eyes. Since the early days of the pandemic, our Mass General Brigham (MGB) researchers have dedicated much of their time to the MGB Center for COVID Innovation (MGB CCI). It was launched in 2020 to help coordinate, facilitate and rapidly develop diagnostic innovations that will help stop the spread of SARS-CoV2, the virus responsible for COVID-19, among patients, front line health care workers and the community. The lab that took part in the Cambridge Science Festival evaluates potential COVID-19 diagnostic technologies that help to consistently and accurately test whether someone is positive or negative for COVID-19.
